Interview Questions

Q: Why are you interested in this position specifically, and what makes you qualified for the position?

A: For a while, I have had a passion for storytelling. Somewhere around the end of my middle school years, I found an interest in screenwriting. Even if the formatting was off, I had fun bringing my ideas to life, and that was when I know this was my life's passion. I have years of experience taking Writing Arts and RTF classes. I have written scripts ranging from a prince who learns the errors of his ways, to an accurate depiction of a tutoring session. I have even written beyond screenwriting, but they reflect my knack for storytelling. One of my favorite works was a short story about a group of kids venturing into a library within the depths of the Earth.

Q: What are your greatest strengths and how are they applicable to this position?

A: Two I have in mind is that I can brainstorm ideas in a short time frame, and I can spot small details. With deadlines constantly looming over writers, these are admirable qualities within the context of television. I have been a part of Rowan’s Writing Arts Club for a couple of years now, and we are only given a few minutes to complete a chosen writing prompt. What seems stressful for many, is fun for me. It is due to that time constraint that I can produce creative works. An example of this was a script I wrote about two neighbors reacting to a ball in their yard and giving realistic dialogue exchanges to each other.

Q: Why do you want to work at this company specifically?

A: It is mainly for personal preferences. Even though I have a license, I do not drive since I have no car. Even so, I am more comfortable with walking to places than driving and risking a car accident. Every week I take a walk to Lidl’s which is an hour and thirty minutes from where I reside. Speaking of which, I am currently living on campus, just a short walk away from the Writing Center at the Savitz Hall. This allows me to exercise both my mind and my body. I also felt it was the most trustworthy place to find work. From experience, the people I have met here at Rowan, including the tutors, have mostly been welcoming and talented individuals. So I expect that to be true while working in the Writing Center.
